More Families

I've had 4 more family photo shoots in the last week. I think it is my own way of celebrating families. What a blessing to see the wonderful children these parents have been given. (And one couple with one on the way!) Here are my faves! I've also got a Julie Alley Photography Facebook page now, so feel free to become a fan!

The families begin

Well, I've had a great response from people looking for a portrait of their family for their Christmas cards and have quite the line up in the next couple of weeks. Here are two families...the first I shot at Maclay Gardens here in Tallahassee...and felt affirmed a little that I know good lighting and location. I counted at least 4 other photographers there! It is just a great time of day and very scenic. This sweet little girl brought the "love" sign on her own and was excited about holding it in some of the pictures. Love to see those creative ideas from kids. Thanks Eva and Mia!
The second family I shot at Mission San Luis. They are family friends and were cracking me up. When I photograph friends it can sometimes become a party and I forget what I'm doing. But I managed to hold the camera still even though giggling. I love the scenery there and the house in the background of one of them. I will take photos there again I'm sure. They were actually closed but had accidentally left the gate open and we were run off by some enthusiastic actors from the mission. They were a little freaky but it was worth it. We drove to the stadium at FSU to finish up and have some fun.

What I've been up to...

I've been pretty busy with home school but I have recently gotten into Real Estate photography and have now photographed 4 homes, plus my own for practice! Here are a few photos from the last few months.

Baby Blues

I don't think I even came close to capturing the crystal blue of one-year-old Kaniel's eyes. They are the very definition of "baby blues." So vibrant and almost clear in the center. These shots were grabbed in between his frantic exploration of the green space and also eating lots of organic outdoor materials such as sticks, leaves, dirt, and grass. But at the very end he flirted with his mom and I through the slats on a porch and it was like all of a sudden he realized what we had been trying so hard to get him to do. Made me remember that sometimes you get your best shots at the very beginning with kids, but sometimes you decide to "try one last thing" and it's worth it.

Eloise...that's me!

She is NOT six and does NOT live in the plaza hotel. Her name is Eloise Mae and she was about 5 1/2 weeks old in these photographs. She has two older sisters and is surrounded by all things girl, including the soft furry ivory rug she is lying on. I took these with only natural light coming in her nursery window, which is how I got started in photography...no flash or math required. Just set up and click click click. She is so sweet!

One Year Old

A couple days ago I took photos of a cute one year old baby named Seth. I knew I would get good pictures because he is so cute. I mean, some of the most adorable cheeks ever. He wasn't real into the camera. All our coaxing and he only glanced in my direction a few times. Luckily I brought my son for the family shots. To get him to look and smile. At the end I threw him over my knees superman style and got this shot against the sky. At least he's looking at the camera in that one! Happy Birthday Seth!

Workout Barbie

Earlier this week I had a fun photo shoot with Jenn Batey, who does group personal training. She needed some head shots and such for her website. Much of what I did was informational...shots of equipment and her doing yoga poses and such but the best are of her. She is beautiful and very photogenic so it was no problem making her look good. I felt like I was posing Workout Barbie or something! And I mean that in a good way! Eventually some of the photos I took will end up on her website, so check her out! http://www.balancedlifegf.com/
